IBEI and Casa Amèrica Catalunya organise a roundtable to discuss EU-LAC relations in the framework of the upcoming UE-CELAC summit

On Tuesday, September 16, at 18:30h, Casa Amèrica Catalunya will host a round table —with the support of LAC-EU and EULAS, European Union projects, coordinated by IBEI.

The round table, titled ‘Rethinking Latin America–Europe Relations: What Is at Stake in the 2025 EU–CELAC Summit’, will take a closer look at the current relationship between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. It will focus on the opportunities and challenges ahead of the upcoming EU–CELAC Summit, which will be held in Colombia on November 9–10. The discussion will highlight key political, social and economic issues and explore how both regions can work together more closely in today’s changing global landscape.

The round table discussion, conducted in Spanish, will bring together five experts in the field: Andrea Costafreda (Director of Development Cooperation of the Government of Catalonia), Kevin Parthenay (Full Professor of Political Science at the University of Tours and Research Associate at the CERI/Sciences Po), Andrea Ribeiro Hoffmann (Associate Professor at the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro), José Antonio Sanahuja (Professor of International Relations at the Autonomous University of Madrid), and Claudia Zilla (Senior Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, SWP). Jacint Jordana (Professor of Political Science and Administration at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and IBEI President) will chair the session.

This roundtable will initiate a series of cultural events and policy discussions organized jointly by Casa Amèrica Catalunya and IBEI over the coming three years. The aim is  to promote and  strengthen cultural and policy ties between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

There is no need to RSVP, just mark in your calendars! While we would love to see you there in person, we are also happy to announce that the event will be streamed live on YouTube at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/@americatalunya

Please note that the entire session will be held in Spanish.
