LAC-EU Doctoral Candidates Begin Secondments at PUC-Rio, Universidad de Chile, IPRI-Nova, and the EU-LAC Foundation
Following the LAC-EU Network Event at FLACSO Argentina, eight of our twelve doctoral candidates have begun their secondments at Associated Partner institutions in Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile, Lisbon, and Hamburg.
Secondments are a core component of MSCA Doctoral Networks, involving stays at academic and non-academic institutions that contribute to each candidate's research experience and professional training. LAC-EU secondments are also designed to minimise our carbon footprint by coordinating mobility across network events and reducing the number of transatlantic trips required.
At PUC-Rio's Department of International Relations in Rio de Janeiro, Doctoral Candidates Luciana Coube Cardoso (IBEI), Victoria Frois (University of York), and Gabrielle Leite (University of York) have begun their academic stays. Alongside their secondment activities, they will conduct fieldwork related to their research on Brazilian case studies.
At the Instituto de Estudios Internacionales of the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Doctoral Candidates Tamara Albarracín Sánchez (UB) Alice Blukacz(FLACSO Argentina), and Natalia Escoffier (IBEI) have started their academic secondments, also combining their stay with fieldwork in the city.
Finally, Domonkos Bánki(FLACSO Argentina) has joined IPRI-Nova in Lisbon for his academic secondment, while Gustavo Cadenas Delascio (Oslo University) has arrived in Hamburg for his non-academic secondment at the EU-LAC Foundation/Fundación EU-LAC.
We are delighted to see our candidates engaging with such diverse research environments, professional cultures, and languages, all of which will enrich both their individual projects and the network as a whole.
We are also deeply grateful to our partners who are hosting and supporting them: Andrea Ribeiro Hoffmann at PUC-Rio; Ricardo Gamboa and Dorotea López Giral at the Universidad de Chile; Carmen Fonseca at IPRI-Nova; and Alberto Brunori and Anna Barrera at the EU-LAC Foundation/Fundación EU-LAC.
