LAC-EU Researchers Present at LASA Conference in Paris

Four doctoral researchers from the LAC-EU network presented their ongoing research at the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) annual conference, held on 26-30 May in Paris. Luca Venga (Sciences Po), Ana Obando (KU Leuven), Joaquín Caprarulo (KU Leuven), and Gustavo Cadenas Delascio (University of Oslo) shared a panel focused on the evolving relationship between the European Union and Latin America.

The panel was organised and coordinated by our LAC-EU doctoral candidates, and it was chaired by Anna Ayuso (CIDOB) and Ricardo Gamboa (Universidad de Chile), both associated partners of the network. It also featured Francisco Sánchez (Universidad de Salamanca) as discussant. Each panelist contributed from their own area of specialization, covering a range of themes central to current EU-LAC relations, including the Global Gateway initiative in the LAC region, civic participation through digital platforms, and points of convergence and divergence in international fora.

LASA brings together scholars and specialists in Latin American studies on an annual basis and represents one of the most important venues for debate and exchange in the field. The participation of LAC-EU researchers in this edition offered both an opportunity to present some of the project's findings and to engage with the broader academic community working on EU-LAC relations.
