LAC-EU Network Hosts Two Public Roundtables at FLACSO Argentina

As part of its second network meeting, held at FLACSO Argentina in Buenos Aires from 18 to 20 March, the LAC-EU project is opening the programme to the public with two roundtable discussions on topics at the core of its research agenda. Both events are free and open to all — no registration required.

Current Challenges in Migration Governance: The Role of the Local Level

Wednesday, 18 March · 18:00–19:30 hs · FLACSO Argentina, Buenos Aires

The first roundtable brings together three leading scholars to discuss how local actors are shaping migration governance in a context of increasing global complexity. Participants include Mercedes Botto (FLACSO Argentina), Juan Carlos Triviño Salazar (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona), and Harald Bauder (Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada). The discussion will be moderated by LAC-EU doctoral fellow Alice Blukacz (FLACSO Argentina).

De las calles a la literatura y el cine — Derechos sexuales, punición y movilizaciones en América Latina

Thursday, 19 March · 16:30–18:00 hs · Auditorio FLACSO Argentina, Buenos Aires

The second roundtable examines the intersection of sexual rights, punitive politics, and feminist and LGBTQ+ mobilisations in Latin America, exploring how these struggles are reflected in and shaped by literature and cinema. The panel brings together Ana Correa (lawyer and author of Somos Belén), Eleonor Faur (Universidad Nacional de San Martín / IDES), and Isabel González Puente (President of the Student Union, Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, Universidad de Buenos Aires). The roundtable will be moderated by LAC-EU project coordinator Andrea C. Bianculli (IBEI).

Both events are part of the LAC-EU network's commitment to fostering open academic and public debate on the political, social, and cultural ties between Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe. If you are in Buenos Aires, we warmly invite you to join us.
